Haleem/ Hareesa/ Khichda is a type of stew slowly cooked with meat lentils and spices. Each vary slightly from where they originated. They are extremely popular in the Middle East, and Indian Subcontinent.
I love having the Asian version for Iftar but being a busy mom, i have my own easy version and not to mention healthy too! I’m not a bad cook guys!
INGREDIENTS:
250 G boneless Chicken
1 medium onion chopped
Half cup wholegrain oats soaked
Half cup lentil(moong daal) soaked
2 tbspn oil
Shan Haleem spices
Garnishing:
Chopped garlic
Green chillies chopped
Ginger thinly sliced
Coriander chopped
Shan chaat spice
Baked onion to brown
METHOD:
Saute onion until slightly brown. Add the bonless chicken cut to small pieces. Fry for 5 mins and add 3/4 of shan spice. Cook for 5 mins and add the oats and lentils with 2 cupsof water. Let it cook slowly. Serve hot with the garnishings!
